Affiliate Revenue Explained - 5 Keys to Choosing the Right Affiliate Program

Choosing the right affiliate program could have a profound effect on the amount of income you can make from your website, blog, eCourses etc. In this article I would not chose affiliate programs for you because I don't know your target area/ niche BUT I will give you certain criteria that should be applied by anyone in any niche market including you in choosing the right affiliate program.

However, I suggest you keep the following five points in mind, which serves as criteria for choosing the right affiliate program.

1: Commission payment. Avoid merchants that pay your affiliate commissions bimonthly or quarterly. Choose merchants that will pay you commission weekly, biweekly or at the most monthly.

2: Payment method. Choose merchants that would pay affiliate program commission you earned into your Paypal account or direct deposit/ wire transfer into your bank account.
If possible avoid checks because some checks take about 10 days to clear depending on bank and country of residence. This increases the number of days you will have to wait to enjoy the money you have worked hard for.

But with Paypal or direct deposit/ wire transfer, you can cash your commission within 24 hours of payment. However, you can accept check, if you feel it is worth the time you have to wait to allow it to clear.

3: Promote high priced products. Choose products that are high priced to get fat commission checks. Nevertheless, you may promote low priced items, especially if your niche audience has a very high population of individuals interested in what you have to offer.
But keep in mind that in your affiliate program business you should promote products that your niche audience will be interested in buying.

That is product which the customers pays for monthly or quarterly, so that you will receive guaranteed revenue so long as the customer continue to place order for the product or service at the merchant's website.

You see, recurring billing products or services are very lucrative but requires less work because whenever the customer pays, you need not remind him to buy again by advertisement. This way you save yourself time and advertisement money.

5: Promote high demand products. If you prefer to promote physical goods, you can choose products that are consumable because when a customer finishes using the ones he had previously ordered. He would have to order again to use the product.

Examples of such consumable products are cosmetics, wellness products, weight loss products, food, laundry products, etc. But keep in mind that the physical goods/ products should be of lightweight, so that customers will be able to order it online.

You see, if the weight is too high, it will lead to high shipping charges. This will make the customer to pay high price for the product. Chances are the customer will prefer to buy it offline.

Flies to the honey-pot, that’s what we are. Can you resist those calls to easy riches? I can’t. I’ve been a student of them for 45 years. Along the way I subscribed to numerous business opportunity newsletters and gave half a dozen MLM businesses a try. But after all that time and effort, If the evidence is anything to go by, there is no such thing as QER – quick easy riches.

Actually, that reminds me of a rather neat phrase you can use in the world of sales. The prospect says, ‘I like it but you have to drop your price’ and the salesman can reply, ‘That’s possible. You we can give you high quality, rapid delivery and a low price – just choose any two’.

There is a famous old quote, which says, ‘There is a natural law of business balance prohibiting good quality being available at a cheap price. It can’t be done. To reduce the price, you have to do something cheaper or leave something out. You can’t have quality and low price’.

Let’s see if the idea of ‘pick any two’ applies to QER.

Quick – how can you make money fast, sawn-off shotgun + post office, drug smuggling, hostage-taking + ransom. Evidently you can get your hands on money fast in illegitimate ways, but since jail is the most likely outcome, this option isn’t realistic.

Easy – the lottery is easy, but the odds are so long that in practice, buying a ticket is 99.9% as bad as simply throwing your money away.

Some people inherit. That’s easy enough, if you happen to be named in a will. But how can you achieve that, it’s not within your control, it’s a matter of chance.

Unless I have a blind spot, there isn’t any way to achieve QER. So why are there so many sales pitches saying that it’s only a credit card spend away?

It’s because there are millions, probably billions of hopeful, naive, gullible people who long to believe that QER can be theirs if they can just find the magic to make it happen. But do they succeed? I never have in nearly half a century, Don’t get me wrong, I have made money, sometimes large amounts, but never quick and easy.

On many occasions I’ve been paid $3,000 a day to talk. That’s relatively quick. Was it easy? Definitely not. It took a lifetime of experience to acquire the necessary knowledge and the extra ingredient of being able to present that information to a demanding audience.

Another ‘Quick one’; I sold a database of business organisations. It contained 300,000 records. Rather amazingly, they all fitted on to one CD. My buyer paid $18,000 for it. Despite the fact that handing over the CD and depositing the money to my account only took minutes, in reality, that was neither quick nor easy. To build the database had taken 5 years of painstaking additions and amendments.

The learning point: don’t believe any claims that you can have easy riches by buying something. Doing is what it takes to make money, not buying.

Here are some real ways to make your fortune.

Hustle in the world of real estate. Property is expensive, sales commissions are large. Sell some expensive houses and you’ll have a lot of money. Free Sales-Training Master Class

Buy dilapidated properties, fix them up, rent them to more than cover the financing, then repeat. When the next real-estate boom comes along, sell them.

Start a business which can be replicated throughout a large territory – look at Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Body Shop, Car Hire outlets as examples. Once the company is established, go public or sell it.

Do something very unusual, which is in strong demand. Those two properties naturally conflict, so it will take some searching to find an activity which fits, but the famous Red Adair, who put out oil well fires had just such a one. The entertainment industry is a place where this can be found too. David Blaine, David Copperfield, top sports people and TV celebrities etc are in this category.

Less dramatic, but easier to identify, any occupation where the problems facing the customers are very nasty, scary or expensive. That’s how lawyers and medical practitioners can afford to drive Mercedes cars.

Those are real world ways to make a lot of money. You could do something like that, you could be rich, but it will take hard work and time. That’s reality, don’t waste your money and become frustrated and cynical trying to find the illusory short cut, it doesn’t exist. Forget QER – it ain’t going to happen.

Life is short, do something that you enjoy, if it happens to make you rich, that’s a bonus.

developing a viable business plan from the outset is crucial.

to you and your business. Your main focus should be to 'plan to
profit within a set period of time' and this would require you to allow time for thoughtful researching, planning, execution and testing. You'll need to test out your business model first and ensure that it's viable and sustainable.

Don't make the same mistakes that many dotcoms made - trying to
build a global brand before their business model even worked as
it'll lead you into receivership faster.

2. Model someone successful

It's always wise to learn from the mistakes of other people
rather than to learn from your own mistakes as this can sometimes be very costly and painful.

Track and learn from benchmarked success stories, be they your
competitors or otherwise. Why would you want to spend time
re-inventing the wheel when you can learn from those who have
already been there and done it successfully. Learn how they
design their website, create products, write salescopy, their
sales process, etc.

3. Focus on a niche market

Don't be everything to everybody by trying to dominate a huge
and general market because you just simply can't do it
effectively.

Focus your internet business on a targetable portion of the
market or a narrowly defined group of potential customers.
Address the need for a product or service that's not being
addressed by mainstream providers. The advantage of this is that it's less competitive in such a market as large businesses won't want to be in it.

For this to be effective, the market niche that you're targeting must be fast moving, its customers accessible and there mustn't already be a dominant player in that particular market niche.

The key here is to find a niche market, assess the needs of the
market and then offer them your products and/or services that
meet their needs.

4. Differentiate your business

To capture a larger market share and be viable, sustainable and
profitable, you need to differentiate or distinguish your
business from your competitors; make your business special in
the eyes of your customers and/or prospects.

You can do this by creating what's called a Unique Selling
Propostion or USP and then effectively convey that USP to your
target market via your marketing efforts and business performance.

This's particularly crucial if you're operating in a highly
competitive market.

A USP is the one thing or idea that sets your business favourably apart from your competitors. Think about these questions: "What's the one thing that makes your business unique and distinct? Why should people buy from you and not from your competitors? Do you promise great value, benefit or service?"

Your USP is the focal point around which the success and
profitability of your business is built and so you must be able
to state it and fulfill it honourably and effectively.

5. Spent your funds wisely

Costs is one of the major determinant of your internet business's survivability. You'll need to carefully track and control your costs from the outset and make sure you can start to show a profit soon, as unmindful spending with no thought given to incoming resources will bleed you to death.

Credible websites not only require money to set up but also to
maintain; advertisement costs money. Driving traffic to your
website where you lose money on sales made is suicidal. Do your
sums; consistently refer back to your vision to ascertain whether an expense is warranted or meaningful.

6. Superior customer service

In addition to a viable business plan, a superior customer
service will be key to your success.

Superior customer service must be a high priority in your action plan. Build a trusting and long lasting relationship with your customers and prospects, send your staff for customer service training, fulfill your orders promptly, and constantly remind yourself the reason of your very existence.

This is crucial as it costs five times more to win a new customer than it costs to keep an existing customer. Moreover, a dissatisfied customer will tell, on average, five or six people about your bad service. The point I'm driving at here is that looking after your customers saves money and boosts profits.

Envelope Stuffing Jobs – Things To Consider Before Getting Involved - By Anna Allen

“Earn $1000’s Weekly Stuffing Envelopes.” “Want to Work From Home? Here’s your Chance at $12 per Envelope.” “Stuffing Envelope Jobs – Earn Thousands Weekly at Home! $5 per Envelope. Start Now.”

Any of the above ads look familiar? They should. Every last one of them is an actual ad that I found. They are plastered everywhere whether it’s the Newspaper, Magazine Ads and even on the Internet.

How many of you actually believe those ads? Believe it or not, many people actually do believe them. Years ago, I was one of them. I kept seeing these ads over and over again so I figured they were legitimate. I ended up responding to a few of the ads but never heard back from any of them. Surprise, surprise!

Actually, back then, I was surprised. I was young and naive and never thought people would lie just to get people’s money. Boy was I wrong. Since that time, I’ve come across several other people who fell for those outrageous claims. I even have a family member who fell for a similar mail out scam and spent over $700 on envelopes and stamps and even went to Kinko’s to have the circular printed out. How much did he make on that Envelope Stuffing job? Not one dime! I decided to do some research on Envelope Stuffing. I was actually amazed at what I discovered. If you are seriously considering responding to any of these Envelope Stuffing ads, here are some things to consider:

* What is required – There are actually several different Envelope Stuffing scams out there, so it depends on which scam you’ve come across. According to the ads, there really isn’t much required at all. You basically just have to stuff envelopes with the company’s mail out or flyer, address the envelope, put postage on it and seal it. Then take the whole package of envelopes to the company so they can mail them out, or some companies want you to take them to the post office and mail them yourself.

Now that doesn’t sound so hard, does it? It actually isn’t that hard, the only thing is that many times after you’ve stuffed all the envelopes and followed the directions, these many of these companies will not pay you and use the excuse that you did not do the job according to their requirements. So, they got you to do all that work, which you mailed out then they make an excuse not to pay you. Or, they will claim that none of the envelopes you mailed out brought in a sale. The thing is, they never told you that your pay would be based on commission.

Some Envelope Stuffing scams, like the one my family member fell for, require you to purchase all the envelopes, stamps and copies of the circular and have you mail them out to different lists of people (you have to buy a list of prospects as well). You then mail out a copy of the circular and you get to keep all the money people send you. This is a type of pyramid scheme that has been around for years and is still going strong, so beware.

Another Envelope Stuffing scam is after you pay them a fee they send you instructions on how to write and place ads (just like the one you fell for). So basically, they are teaching you to scam people like they scammed you.

* Do they charge a fee – Do not pay any fee of any kind no matter how small the amount may be. Some companies will claim that the fee is to pay for stamps, supplies, etc. Don’t believe it! A legitimate company who is requiring your services would not ask you to pay any kind of fee for signing up. No company even has the right to ask you for money before you work for them. You are there to perform a service or job for them, so you should not have to pay them anything. Some people may reason that they were only asked to pay anywhere from $1 to $3, which might not seem like a lot of money. But if 3000 people respond to that ad and send them $1 to $3 each, they’ve made $3000 to $9000! That can really ad up especially if they advertised in some of the bigger National magazines. So do your research so you won’t get scammed.

* Don’t believe the hype - Any company that tells you that you will be making thousands of dollars by simply stuffing envelopes is lying. Stay away from them. You can not make that much money just by stuffing envelopes. Why do I say that? Well today, most envelope stuffing is done by machine. Manual envelope stuffing is too costly and is done in great volume by high speed machines. No company is going to pay people thousands of dollars every week to stuff envelopes for them when they can invest in these machines and only have to pay for it once.

These people make these ridiculous claims because they know that there are gullible people out there looking for easy ways to make money. Open your eyes! Don’t fall for it. You have been warned.

* Do your research - You must do your research before getting involved with any company. Don’t just automatically sign up with any company advertising envelope stuffing. Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints against the company. Do a search on Google. Check online forums. Just make sure you do the research.

* Are there any legitimate envelope stuffing opportunities out there – Believe it or not, yes there are. These are usually freelance jobs from smaller companies just starting out that can’t afford the envelope stuffing machinery or companies that are trying to see if they get sales resulting from mail outs.

I actually worked for a small water purifying company that I did mail outs for. I went there to apply for a secretarial job but it was filled. Instead, they offered me the envelope stuffing job. I was desperate at the time so I took it.

It was very time consuming. I used to stuff 4000 envelopes a week. That was a lot of work! I had to get my family to help me. I would bring home the envelopes; my Dad would stuff and seal them. My Mom, sister and I would write out the addresses (we didn’t have the sticky labels to work with). I would place the stamps on them. Then I would take them back to the company and they would write me out a check. I shared the money with my family since they helped me out. It took a lot of time and if I didn’t take time each day to do it, I’d get behind, and then I’d be up late filling out the address and putting the stamps on them. I did that job for a year.

* Can you make money Stuffing Envelopes – When I worked for that company, I used to get paid around $210 a week. That was not a lot of money, especially after I shared it with my family for their help. I did because it helped them out each week and it gave me a little extra spending money.

* Is it worth the fuss - I had to ask myself if it was worth all the fuss to do that kind of work. Was it worth the lousy $210 I’d get each week? What did my family think about it? We all dreaded it each week, but we liked getting paid. The thing is, by the time I got through splitting the money with my family, there wasn’t much left for me. Plus, I had to report that on MY taxes each year, not my family. So in the long run, it wasn’t worth it for me. You may find it different in your case.

* Envelope stuffing is now called "home mailing" or "e-mail processing" - Envelope stuffing is a very popular old scam that's now being repackaged as e-mail processing. These companies are very clever and are realizing that many people are catching on to their scam so they are now changing their wording and calling it something else, but it works the same way as the other Envelope Stuffing scams.

from home. I was the type of person who had to be ‘out of the house’ or I’d go crazy.
I had to be moving around and doing something. I never thought I’d end up working
from home and actually like it, but I do.

Working at home, who wouldn’t want to do that? There are so many ways to make
money working at home and starting your own business, not to mention all the
advantages. Some of the wealthiest people in the world work for themselves. If
you were like me and never imagined working from home, I’ve compiled a list of
the Top 10 Advantages of Working at Home.

1. Spending more time with your family - When I was single and had no
kids I never wanted to stay home. I always wanted to be out doing something.
After I became a ‘Mom,’ I really hated to leave my house each morning because
it meant that I also had to leave the kids. I hated to see their eyes fill with tears
as I would leave. I also didn’t want someone else to ‘raise them’ as I went to work
each day. I wanted to be there for their ‘firsts’ in life; the first time they spoke
or the first time they walked. I wanted to witness those things. So spending more
time with my family and being there for them meant a lot to me and still does.

2. Set your own hours - Since you are your own boss, you get to say when
you will work. No more having to dread that awful alarm clock. If you want to
sleep in, you actually get to sleep in. If you want to play with the kids, have lunch
with a friend, visit your family or even just sit and watch TV, you can. Just keep

many more. Talk to your accountant or book keeper to see what you can

Any of these ads look familiar? They should, you can find them plastered all over the Internet and in most classified newspaper ads. Data Entry Jobs are currently the latest rage. It seems everyone wants to do them. In fact, I did a check to see how many times people typed in the phrase, ‘data entry’ (with Overture’s Keyword Selector Tool) and found that last month there were 38,490 searches for Data Entry; and that’s not counting all the searches on Google, MSN or any of the hundreds of other search engines on the Internet! That’s also not counting the other phrases people could have typed in, such as; ‘data entry jobs,’ ‘make money with data entry,’ ‘online data entry’ or many other phrases associated with Data Entry.

Why are so many people interested in Data Entry Jobs? Well think about it. You get to work from home (in your pajamas if you want), spend more time with your family, don’t have to worry about leaving your house and getting stuck in that traffic, and you don’t have to hate it every time the alarm goes off each morning. I mean, how irresistible is that?

I decided to do a bit of research on these so-called ‘Data Entry Jobs.’ What did I find? Well, I will tell you this; many of the companies I researched had a lot in common. Now let me start off by saying that I researched some of the more popular Data Entry Programs. What I found was many of these programs had very misleading ads and websites with outrageous promises. Customer service was also very poor and in some cases nonexistent. I emailed some of them to ask a simple question and I never got a response.

Some of the Data Entry programs I researched were from Clickbank’s Marketplace. All of these I found were actually eBooks that tell you, or even show you how you can make money using Google AdWords to sell their product or other Clickbank products. (That is not Data Entry. That is actually Affiliate Marketing.) So in reality, once you join and pay the registration fee for these Data Entry Programs, you will receive the training materials that will teach you how to type more ‘data entry ads’ and convince other people to do the same thing. What they fail to tell you is that YOU have to pay for the ads you place and you ONLY make money IF you make a sale. When I made this discovery I was outraged because not only are these programs misleading, as you actually do not make money for the data entry itself, you only get money if you sell a product, these programs are also fraud and contain false information. That has the word SCAM written all over it. In fact, after further research, I discovered that Clickbank actually had these so-called Data Entry Programs removed from their Marketplace. Why? Well, even though these products were very popular and sold very easily, they also have a very high return rate, which Clickbank frowns upon. That right there should tell you something.

So are Data Entry Jobs scams? In my opinion I don't think that Data Entry Programs themselves are scams. It's the WAY they are presented and sell their product to the public that's misleading. As mentioned earlier, this is nothing more than Affiliate Marketing, which is not Data Entry.

So how does one go about finding legitimate Data Entry Jobs? The key is to find an honest and reliable freelancing data entry job. This is going to require time on your part. You are going to have to do your homework and put in the effort required to find these legitimate jobs. Don’t worry. I have listed a few of the best places to look.

You can use search engines to help you find reliable companies. There are many review sites out there that will give you an unbiased review of data entry programs. Please don’t go into this kind of search believing EVERYTHING you read from these review sites. Believe it or not, there are a lot of review sites that are still promoting data entry programs from Clickbank, which as mentioned earlier are mostly scams.

Another great place to look for data entry jobs is Webmaster forums. Many webmasters are constantly looking to save time by hiring other people to do manual labor so they can focus more on advertising and updating their web sites. Some forums even let you advertise your services, but some also charge you a fee for this, so once again, do your research.

A great place I recently discovered to look for Data Entry Jobs is www.Craigslist.org. Craig’s List is the largest online classified website on the Internet. I used to think it only listed things to buy or sell, but during my research, I discovered they also have a section called “Gigs" which includes a section on ‘Writing’ where people are always looking for someone to do data entry work.

There are many other job sites such as Monster.com, Yahoo and even HotJobs where you can find data entry jobs in your area. Remember to take your time and do a thorough search because you need to insure that you are signing up with a reliable program so that you do not get scammed.

The best way to make sure that you are dealing with a reliable company is to go to www.BBB.org and check out the company you are interested in. The BBB grades companies using their rating system and has official information and customer praise and complaints about most businesses. It’s the best place to find unbiased and accurate information.

So in conclusion, Data Entry Jobs can be a real money making opportunity. Just remember, as with any industry, there are scammers out there who know what you want to hear and are ready to ‘tickle your ears’ with their ads promising instant riches. Don’t fall for them. Do your homework and you will be fine.

$3500 Weekly was one of the very first eBooks I ever purchased. I was drawn to this eBook because it is consistantly on the first page of Clickbank Marketplace which means this is an eBook that sells a lot. I figured since it sells a lot it must be good. So, I decided to check it out for myself.

When I went to the website what I found was a very convincing sales letter. The writer of the eBook, (only known as 'Jean'), claims she found the 'secret' to making money online and even shows you proof of her earnings and promises to show you how you too can make a lot of money online using Google and Clickbank. The price of the eBook was only a measly $25 plus Jean also offers a money back guarantee so i figured I had nothing to lose.

When I purchased this eBook what I found was a very short (only 24 pages) eBook that was badly written. It looked very amateurish. I read the eBook several times (since it was so short) and searched and searched for this so-called 'secret' that Jean claims to have discovered but the secret was nowhere to be found. The eBook had absolutely nothing new to offer. Jean did not give you any details on how to be successful online. I just felt that the website was misleading and the eBook certaining did not deliver on it's promises.

I'm sure there might be something in her eBook that is of value (maybe to someone who knows absolutely nothing about the internet) but I'd stay away from it and purchase an eBook with more value. Remember you get what you pay for, so maybe that explains the low cost.
